Due to an employee retiring, a well-established manufacturer of products used within construction industry is now recruiting for a Yard Supervisor.
The Yard Supervisor will lead, organise and control the work activities of the yard team in a safe and efficient manner
" To order and arrange timely deliveries of materials to make sure that production plan is met.
" To ensure that finished stock is tested on time, in full, and is rotated on a first in, first out basis.
" Despatch of finished product is done in a timely manner.
" Ensure high standards of housekeeping across all areas of the site under their control, and mobile plant is maintained and able to provide the required level of service.
" Cooperate closely with planning, transport and commercial departments.
" Ensuring that customers receive the right products on time
" There are no issues with excessive lorry waiting time or lost production as a result of mobile plant unavailability.
" The stock inventory is accurate, and no stock-outs occur as a result of incorrect stock levels.
" There is no persistent poor time-keeping, absenteeism or other unresolved disciplinary issues
" Ensuring that the yard team adheres to the safety rules & procedures
" Ensures that no one on yard duties is allowed to carry out tasks unsupervised that they have not been properly trained to do.
" Ensures that all members of the yard team are fully aware of the environmental management procedures and they strictly adhere to them at all times. Checks at least once per day for non-conformances, e.g. Improperly discarded oil filters.
" Monitors quality of finished product being stacked on the yard and raises any concerns with the duty shift supervisor and/or the factory manager. Frequently checks product labelling and loading for errors.
" Ensures that mobile plant daily checks are completed properly, that the mobile plant supplier adheres to service schedules and responds promptly to breakdown reports. Any protracted or unresolved issues are raised with the supplier of Factory manager if necessary.
" Monitors timekeeping & attendance of shift team members and takes prompt action where individuals start to cause a concern
" Responsible on a daily basis for compliance with the company environmental management system and that the company's registration to ISO 14001 is not compromised in any way.
The Yard Supervisor will have at least few years' experience in a similar role, at least 2 years' experience in operating a counterbalance forklift and a valid licence. Academic or vocational qualification is desirable.
